Agree to some degree about the cultures; My reason for not entirely agreeing is that I work for a global organisation that has been taken over by another organisation with a different ethos and culture. The transition internally is very painful at times and is ultimately going to hit our customers and our bottom line.

Unusually, said org. has gone to our leading clients telling them it could affect them - at this time they're keeping a watching brief, but if I was the competition, now is the time to think about snatching the clients on the premise of quality, etc.

I don't know that I'd worry so much about this as the corporate cultures are like oil and water. You may have hit the nail on the head - the Yahooers want more money so they will play the game the way everyone else does in this position.
