With Jimmy visiting from the UK, Jen, Ken, Rach and myself went to see No Country for Old Men. To be honest I had not seen a review or trailer for it so didn’t know what to expect. What we got was a 2 hour gripping film with (as Jen pointed out) no soundtrack, which kept us all on the edge of our seats – however the ending was somewhat lame… It gives resolution to what the film is about in the main, but REALLY? The only thing that could have made it even more cheesey was if Bobby Ewing came out of the shower.
Actually the ending wasn’t that bad, and everything got resolved (well almost everything). The feeling of the film had shades of those old 70’s films we used to see on TV during the 80’s where there are folks in some small arizona town and deaths ensue.
It’s a good film to see – and will get you thinking about what happened – and like the tagline says, “there are no clean getaways”. If only he’d not taken that water back to the dude….
